TOP SECRET SPY PHOTOS
- click on each photo for larger versions During
the rest day between the '05 Lancaster and Trenton Wachovia Pro
races, our intrepid Paparazzi snapped these secret photos of a bike
ridden by a pro in the races shortly before the photographer was
carted away by the local constabulary. He was able to forward the
images to us for our evaluation before he was locked up by the powers
that be.
This first image shows an unusual mark on the back of the seat tube
which appears to be reminiscent of one used by a long established,
small custom frame builder in Eastern Pennsylvania... but that just
can not be. This bike was manufactured by one of the big boys. (?)

STRANGE EVIDENCE-
This close-up of what is clearly a Lemond racing bicycle again shows
that strange logo in front of a signature not usually associated
with a manufacturer in Wisconsin. Troubling and confusing indeed.
INCONSISTENT LETTERING? Our crack photographer asked us to black out evidence of which
rider had been using this bicycle in the professional races to protect
the rider's identity.
After much investigation (Google, Yahoo, E-bay, Jeeves and a many
other search engines), we have come to conclusion that the "CUSTOM'
lettering on the top tube of the bicycle in question is a rare font
called "Aster." The
only known use of this lettering in the bicycle industry is by that
small, long established custom builder in Eastern Pennsylvania mentioned
above.
